How to Use a Spine Board
- Keep the head and neck in line by hand until the patient is on the board.
- Log-roll the patient, or transfer them with a scoop stretcher, onto the spine board.
- Fasten the three belts.
- Place the head immobilizer blocks on either side of the head and fasten the straps.
Follow your service’s spinal motion restriction protocol. Guidance on how long a patient should stay on a board varies between services.
