Every folding wheelchair claims to be portable. In practice, folding one is a two-handed job that needs bending, some strength, and usually a second person – which is why so many folding chairs end up living permanently unfolded in a corridor.
This one folds itself. Press the button on the controller and the frame collapses; press again and it opens. You do not bend, lift, or dismantle anything.
That matters most in three situations: loading into a car boot when you are alone, storing it in a flat where there is no spare corner, and getting it through a doorway that a set-up chair will not pass.
Who this is for
The person who moves the chair regularly and moves it alone.
If the chair lives in one house and rarely goes in a car, you are paying for a mechanism you will not use – the Esleh Power Li at ₹65,000 gives you the same lithium battery and similar range without it.
If you travel by car most weeks, load the chair yourself, or live somewhere with tight storage, the auto fold is the whole reason to buy this model.
On slopes and Indian pavements
2 × 250W (500W total), with shock absorbers front and rear. That is enough for building ramps, sloped driveways and the uneven pavement most users meet daily.
Solid tyres front and rear mean no punctures, which matters more in day-to-day Indian use than the small comfort gain from pneumatic tyres.
Where it is not the right chair: unpaved ground, loose gravel and rough rural tracks. The 8-inch front castors will catch. For that, the Esleh Click is built for the job.
Charging
The lithium battery charges on the chair – plug the cable straight in, no separate charger unit to carry or lose. Full charge takes 6 to 7 hours, so an overnight charge covers a normal day of use.
The battery is also removable, so it can be taken indoors to charge while the chair stays in the car or the porch.
Controls
A joystick controller that detaches and mounts on either armrest, so a user with more strength or control on one side can drive with that hand. Safety indicator lights front and rear for visibility in low light and in car parks.
FAQs
How does an automatic folding wheelchair work?
A motor in the frame folds and unfolds the chair when you press a button on the controller. You do not bend, lift or dismantle anything – the chair collapses on its own in a few seconds.
How long does it take to fold?
A few seconds, start to finish. Compare that with a manual folding chair, which needs both hands, some bending, and often a second person.
Will it fit in my car boot?
It fits most hatchback and sedan boots when folded.
Can one person load it into a car?
It weighs 25 kg with the battery. That is manageable for most adults as a boot lift, and easier still with the battery removed. The folding itself needs no strength at all.
What is the difference between the Auto Fold and the Esleh Victor?
Both fold and both use lithium batteries. The Victor folds manually and costs ₹55,000; the Auto Fold folds itself and costs ₹1,05,000. If you fold the chair often and alone, the mechanism is what you are paying for.
How far does it go on one charge?
20 km on a full charge, depending on terrain, user weight and how much of the route is uphill.
Can I charge the battery separately from the chair?
Yes. It charges on the chair, and the battery is also removable so you can take it indoors while the chair stays in the car or porch.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Paved roads, footpaths and colony lanes, yes. Unpaved ground and loose gravel, no – the 8-inch front castors will catch.
